Materuni Waterfall Day Tour

Materuni Village is located at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, about 15 km from Moshi town. It’s known for its lush landscapes, traditional Chagga culture, a beautiful 90-meter waterfall, and organic coffee farms. This day trip combines nature, culture, and a bit of adventure — ideal for travelers who want to explore the local side of Tanzania in one day.

Itinerary :

Departure from Arusha or Moshi:
– Early morning pick-up from your hotel/lodge.
– Drive toward Moshi and then up to Materuni Village, enjoying views of Kilimanjaro (weather permitting) and the surrounding forest.

Arrival at Materuni Village:
– Meet your local Chagga guide.
– Introduction to village life and local customs.

Hike to Materuni Waterfalls:
– A scenic 45–60 min hike through farms, hills, and forest trails.
– Learn about local plants and traditions along the way.
– Reach the stunning 90-meter-high waterfall — time to relax, enjoy the view, and optionally swim in the natural pool (cold, but refreshing!).

Coffee Experience:
– Return to the village and visit a traditional Chagga coffee farm.
– Learn how coffee is grown, harvested, roasted, and brewed.

– Participate in the process and enjoy fresh organic Arabica coffee that you help prepare — with singing and dancing included!

Lunch:
– Enjoy a delicious hot local lunch, usually prepared with seasonal vegetables, rice, banana stew, or ugali.

Return to Arusha or Moshi:
– After lunch and relaxing time, drive back in the afternoon.
– Drop-off at your hotel/lodge.
