Tour Overview
This short but immersive 2-day safari takes you first to the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and home to incredible concentrations of wildlife including the Big Five. On your second day, you’ll explore Tarangire National Park, known for its massive elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and diverse landscapes.
A perfect option for travelers with limited time, this itinerary offers unforgettable wildlife encounters and stunning scenery, ending with a convenient transfer to the airport.
Safari Itinerary
You’ll be picked up from Arusha in the morning and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a packed lunch. Descend into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive in this wildlife-rich sanctuary.
The crater spans 260 square kilometers and is home to elephants, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, hyenas, flamingos, and prides of lions. With a bit of luck, you might even spot the elusive black rhino. Enjoy your picnic lunch near the hippo pool before continuing your exploration.
In the late afternoon, ascend from the crater and drive to Karatu for dinner and overnight at Eileen’s Trees Inn.
After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park for a full-day game drive with picnic lunch. Tarangire is especially vibrant during the dry season when animals gather around the Tarangire River. Expect to see elephants in large numbers, along with giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, and possibly predators such as lions and leopards.
Later in the afternoon, exit the park and drive directly to Airport in time for your flight.
